acting as solicitors in the matter of "Hong Kong, for whom consigned, the
professionally

steps to be taken to bring the question between him
& and the Crown to a settlement. We are informed
Mr. Duddell's legal advisers in the Colony that the Government have sent instructions home on this subject and it is suggested that the case should be settled by some
eminent Counsel, to whose opinion both parties might
abide by, or if this were impracticable, on a
reference to arbitration.
We shall however be glad to hear from you on the
subject and perhaps it would be satisfactory
if you were to direct the Solicitors
of the Crown to communicate with us.
